Power Shutdown in Tamil Nadu Today (7 October 2026)
Wednesday morning, the middle of the week, and everyone is already in the routine. But tomorrow, a good number of us will wake up to a different kind of morning. TNPDCL has announced planned power cuts for 7 October in 27 substation areas across Tamil Nadu.
It’s regular maintenance work, so nothing to worry about. Eighteen substations get their power back by 2 PM, two by 3 PM, five by 4 PM and two have to wait till 5 PM. Below is the full list, region by region, with areas and timings. Find your place, note the time, and plan your day.

Ranipet, Kalavai and nearby side
This is the biggest group, with six substations. All of them are 9 AM to 2 PM, and all are marked maintenance work.

Here’s something worth a second look. A few village names, like Kavanur, Arumbakkam, Mecheri and Mazhaiyur, appear under more than one substation. So if you live in one of these villages, don’t assume you’re safe just because one list doesn’t have your street. Check all the lists, or call your local EB office.
Pudukkottai
Five substations here, all for the entire local area, and all running 9 AM to 4 PM. That means the whole town or village goes dark, not just a street or two.

The Arimalam entry shows up twice in the schedule, with identical details. It looks like a duplicate, so we’ve counted it once. Seven hours is a long stretch. Shops, mills and workshops here should tell regular customers today. And if there are elders at home who depend on a fan or a BP machine, someone should check on them during the day.
Coimbatore and Anaimalai side

The Ellapalayam cut is for servicing all the 110 kV and 22 kV breakers, which is a bigger job than usual.

The Thuvakudy list includes BHEL, NIT and the industrial belt, so staff and students there should plan around the cut. Labs, workshops and hostels will feel it first.

The Pattabiram job is a bigger one: tightening transformer bushing clamps, replacing jumpers on all the 11 kV feeders, and testing the breakers. It’s an entire-area cut, but it’s only till 2 PM.
